Join us on an all-female women explorers small group journey to Mongolia in October 2019. This 12 day/12 night exploration will take us to explore the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, to Eastern Mongolia to explore the vast steppeland by foot, camel or horseback and then off to Bayan-Ölgii to witness the annual nomadic Golden Eagle Festival.
After a night’s rest in Ulaanbaatar we will head east to explore the arid steppeland of Eastern Mongolia. Here we will explore by foot, horse or camel for 4 days/ 3 nights before heading back to Ulaanbaatar for one night before departing for Western Mongolia.
When we arrive in Ölgii prior to the festival we will explore this beautiful part of Western Mongolia and learn about the Kazakh nomadic hunters and how they hunt with their eagles during the winter months (NB: The domestic eagles that are used for hunting are all FEMALE!). After two days of the festival we will head back to Ulaanbaatar and overnight. The final day will be spend just outside of the city with a Mongolian Shamanic community learning about this way of life and witnessing a sacred ceremony.
An abbreviated trip of 8 days is available which excludes 4 nights in Eastern Mongolia.
Accommodations include 4* hotels in Ulaanbaatar and temporary + traditional Ger Camp tents outside of Ulaanbaatar. All meals are included except your first meal upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar as are all transfers during all scheduled activities including airport transfers.
